Paddle Surfing Is Hot!

Despite what Laird Hamilton says, combining a surf board with a paddle strikes me as the sporting equivalent of an evolutionary dead end. I'm sure I can be convinced otherwise but this bloke isn't going to be the one who turns it around for me.

As news circles the globe about the Kilauea volcano going red-eyed and spewing lava like a glutton in a vomitarium, one man and his paddle board gets close in to see the action for himself. Looking like he's set on offering himself up to the Fire Gods, the expression "stoked" takes on a whole new meaning. Apparently his wax melted and he burnt his toes. Duh. That's pro-surfer (I rest my case) C.J Kanuha - pictured below with some mates. He's the one with the eye patch and the crazed look. No matter, he is, as they say,"the man".

Since it appears I will find it increasingly harder to get down to the coast for several reasons I've been thinking about getting one of the kayak-like paddle boats and paddle around the lake we have close by. My issue though is that I hate the feel of fresh water.

As for getting close to lava that just ain't for me.

but don't both of those eye patched guys have crazed looks?

or are you saying one of them looks normal?

I'm just being deliberately vague NM ... I wonder if my namesake's dislike of fresh water means he has a salt water shower installed - but yes, I know what ya mean. A mouthfull of lake just don't taste right compared to the salty spritz of the sea. Come to think of it, I don't much like freshwater fish either ... this could go on...

I'm very confused by two "beach bums"

do you have a doppleganger?

No, NM, it's just that there are two buttocks for every one Beach Bum ;) - and who are you to talk? I just caught up with your "Memories of Seville" ... I'm not the only one with a double act it would seem. XXX
